"The book „Strangpressen“ which is edited by Dr. Martin Bauser, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Günther Sauer and Prof. Dr. Ing. Dr. h.c. Klaus Siegert gives a very broad but also partly a very detailed overview about the extrusion process, the tools and machines as well as the metallurgical background. The book „Strangpressen“ is very useful for both challenges, scientific and industrial. On the one hand it gives the physical and tribological fundamentals of the extrusion as well as the differences between these for the different extrusion methods. On the other hand the book provides a lot of information about the challenges and solutions the extrusion industry, for light and heavy metals, is dealing with. Also because of this balanced content between fundamentals and practical solutions I also use in the book for my lectures where I am teaching students and young engineers the basics about the extrusion of metallic materials.
