The 1st in Russia International Conference & Exhibition “Aluminium – 21/ Flat Rolled Products” was successfully held on October 11-13, 2011 in Sokos Palace Bridge Hotel, Saint Petersburg , Russia.

The organizer of the forum is Alusil MVT.

The conference was sponsored by Vsevolozhsk plant of aluminium alloys (RUSALIT Group of Companies) (Russia) and Hazelett Strip-Casting Corporation (USA).

The official partners of the conference were Alcoa (Russia) and The National Union of Grain Producers (Russia).

The event was officially supported by the European Aluminium Association, the European Coil Coating Association, the Aluminium Extruders Association, the Association "Outward Facade Systems", the Joint Council for Technical Regulation in Construction and the National Packaging Confederation.

This forum was the first event of such kind in Russia. It is expected to become the first step in a range of regular events on aluminium flat rolled products.

The Forum gathered 104 representatives of 65 companies from 14 countries.

Among the participants are representatives of leading Russian and international Research Centers: All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials, All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Railway Transport, Belgorod State University, Cherepovets State University, Czestochowa University of Technology (Poland), Illinois Institute of Technology (USA), Krylov Shipbuilding Research Institute, Moscow State Institute of Steel and Alloys, Moscow State Technical University n.a. On the third day the participants visited the laboratory “Research and simulation of the metal material’s structure and properties” at St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University.

Traditionally, the Conference participants were offered an interesting social program which included a sightseeing tour of Saint Petersburg, visits to Saint Isaac's Cathedral and Peter and Paul Fortress.

The ballet lovers enjoyed the “Swan Lake” ballet at Hermitage Theatre.
