The second international Forum "Aluminium-21/Coatings" was successfully held on May 31 - June 2, 2011 in Sokos Palace Bridge Hotel, Saint Petersburg, Russia.
The general partner of the conference was Gatchina Powder Coatings Plant "Primatek". The conference was sponsored by Alufinish GmbH & Co. KG and Chemetall GmbH . The Conference Registration was sponsored by GSB International .
This Forum was officially supported by Aluminium Extruders Association (AEA) (Russia), ESTAL, QUALICOAT,QUALANOD, GSB International (Germany), All-Russian Association of Corrosion Engineers (VAKOR) (Russia), A.N. Frumkin Institute of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry of the Russian Academy of Science (Russia).

The Organization Committee presented Gatchina powder coatings plant, Alufinish GmbH & Co. KG and Chematall GmbH (Germany), ESTAL, Dmitry Vasilevsky (GK "Iplana"), Gennady Gusakov (Rosla), Viktor Krasnyansky (Promkomplekt), Olga Andrutskaya (Paint Media), Herman Terryn (Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium), Walter Dalla Barba (Italtecno S.r.l., Italy) with crystal awards in recognition of their great contribution to the development of aluminium surface treatment and finishing field.
The presentation of the first in Russia fundamental handbook "The Surface Treatment and Finishing of Aluminium and its Alloys" (the original English book by P.G. Sheasby and R. Pinner) was held on May 31. This book has been long-expected by all Russian-speaking aluminium coating, anodizing, surface treatment specialists.
For the first time ever there was a master class conducted by the representatives of Chemetall GmbH company - one of the world leading producers of chemicals for metal surface treatment. The master class was devoted to the advanced technologies and innovative solutions for aluminium surface pre-treatment. The following issues were thoroughly discussed during the master class: filiform corrosion on aluminium and anti-corrosion treatment, sealing with innovative additions, advantages of alkaline etching, chrom-free treatment of cast and extruded aluminium before coating and others.
On the third conference day the participants attended the modern plants in Saint Petersburg region - Gatchina Powder Coatings Plant "PrimaTek" specializing in the production of the advanced coating powder for aluminium and "New Technologies" - a leading aluminium coating plant of the region.
After the hard and fruitful work at the conference the participants were welcomed on a banquet river boat. They had a chance to enjoy the beauty of the "Nothern Venice" by gliding gently under picturesque bridges.
Traditionally, the Conference participants were offered an interesting social program which included a sightseeing tour of Saint Petersburg, visits to Saint Isaac's Cathedral, Peter and Paul Fortress, the Hermitage. The ballet lovers enjoyed the masterpiece performances of the Mariinsky Theatre ("The Nutcracker" ballet) and the Mikhailovsky Theatre ("Laurencia" ballet).
