Peterhof

Peterhof, a famous residence of Russian Tsars, is located on the Gulf of Finland coast.

It is a city of parks, palaces and fountains, and an outstanding architecture of 18-20 centuries. Four cascades and 150 fountains are amazing. With its splendor and rich decoration, and eccentricity of technical ideas, Peterhof beats Versailles and other European palaces.

The largest architectural structure of Peterhof is an elegant three-story Palace. With its galleries and glittering gold domes it stretches along up to 300 meters. Grand Cascade is a magnificent pedestal of the Palace.

Lower Park landscape is remarkable for its fountains and royal buildings: Mon Plaisir, Marley, Nagorny Palace, the Hermitage, a pond, a large Samsonievsky cave.

The main feature of the Upper Park is its perfect symmetry. The water from its 5 fountains fuels the Grand Cascade. The dominant of the Upper Park is fountain of "Neptune", adorned with a multitude of medieval sculptures.
