The 5th International Conference & Exhibition "Aluminium-21/Recycling" was successfully held in Saint-Petersburg on October 12-14, 2010 in "Sokos Hotel Palace Bridge".
The Conference was organized by ALUSIL-MVT. Sponsors were RUSALIT (Russia) and ADM (Ukraine).
The Conference was supported by the Organization of European Aluminium Refiners and Remelters (OEA), the Aluminium Extruders Association (AEA), Industry Support Fund of Saint-Petersburg (Russia), the Council of Secondary Non-Ferrous Metallurgy Industrial Enterprises (Russia), NP "Inter-regional Center of Secondary Non-Ferrous Metallurgy (Russia), the Union of regional associations of collectors and processors of scrap, waste of ferrous and nonferrous metals (The Union"Lom") Welcome speech by Mr. G. Kirchner to the Conference participants.
In the focus – innovations and energy saving due to more extensive application of recycled aluminium instead of primary metal; aluminium yield increasing at scrap sorting and melting; minimization of power consumption at recycling process, development of downstream processing of secondary aluminium.
As usual, the Conference was supplemented by the exhibition of advanced technologies, equipment and materials for scrap treatment and production of recycled aluminium.
On the third day the delegates made field-trips to Saint Petersburg's State Polytechnic University and to the company "InterKom" (manufacture of aluminium castings for machine building industry as well as different fittings that require high dimensional accuracy and tolerance).
Traditionally, the Conference participants enjoyed an extensive cultural program which included a sightseeing tour of Saint-Petersburg, visits to the Hermitage, tour of Jusupovsky palace etc.
Conference parfticipants also saw "Silfida" ballet in Mariinsky Theater and "Romeo and Juliet" ballet in Mikhailovsky Theater.
